I often use the 'eljay' nickname on IRC, newsgroups, forums, etc...
I have been in the computer and software industry for more than 20 years now. I'm currently working for Minalogic, a cluster of 100+ high tech companies and research labs specialized in micro-nanotechnologies and embedded software. I'm also playing an advisory role and delivering technical expertise at Nuxos Group, a company that is entirely dedicated to the development of Enterprise Web applications using the Ruby on Rails framework.

On a more personal side now:
Ruby: I have used many programming languages in my career (C, C++, Smalltalk, Java, Perl...) and since 2000 I have been mostly working with Ruby that I discovered while working for Xerox Labs.
Since 2005, Richard Piacentini and I organize the Paris On Rails conference which year after year gather more than 250 french speaking developpers. We also translated several Ruby and Ruby on Rails reference books from English to French and frequently wrote articles in the computer press.
Some of the Ruby projects I worked on over the past years:
I was among the very first pioneers and advocate of the Linux operating system in France.
I am really proud of having started using Linux from day 1 just after I saw Linus Torvalds' first message on the comp.os.minix newsgroup.
At that time I was working for HP R&D Labs and I immediatly envision the impact Linux could have if it it was supported by enthusiasts throughout the world. I started writing a couple of drivers for some network cards commonly available in the very first PCs produced by HP.
Then In 1995 I co-founded with Daniel Veillard the GUILDE association, the first French Linux User Group. At its peak, this LUG had more than 500 members and was actively promoting the Linux operating system by giving many presentations and talks especially to public and private companies in the Grenoble area. .I was also the driver behind the "Journées Linux de Grenoble" jointly organized by the INRIA Rhône-Alpes and the GUILDE Linux User Group in 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2003. The 2003 edition was on "Embedded and Real Time Linux".
I enjoy playing tennis, riding bycicle with my family, writing code and populating our sweet home with as many Linux box as possible :-).
